Usually I not a sunset guy. Unless there is something else in the frame that causes emotion and not just the sun going down the horizon. And thunders. No more thunder shots please.

I would like to believe that this shot maybe has something “emotional” so this is why I am posting this. I bet that people who know me are thinking right now “OMFG You posted a sunset!” or ” Dear have you been sitting in the sun too much these days?”.

Laugh all you want

But I actually like this one because it’s not your typical cheezy sunset shot. It has something that motivates me. All because of that guy walking away towards the end of the frame. Maybe it’s the fact that I have to get back to work again after my vacation. Maybe I have been in the sun too much. Who knows ! But I actually like this shot. So enjoy it while it lasts people. There will be no more shot’s like these for quite some time in the future!

And I will close this post with the lyrics from Shinedown’s Diamond Eyes track that spin in my head the last few days:

I’m on the front line
don’t worry I’ll be fine
the story is just beginning
I say goodbye to my weakness
so long to the regret
and now I know that I’m alive

What do you know ! I was in one today ( storm that is ) and after about 15 mins I am standing infront of this amazing scenery where clouds are rushing above my head and dance with a double rainbow.

Thank god I had my camera with me and I captured around 15 shots of this great scenery with my Nikon 18-55. This is one of them whoch had some cross proccess treatment. Unfortunatelly I forgot the ISO on my Nikon D80 at 800 so there is some noticable noise but on the other hand this actually gives the photo a “retro” quality so lets just call it a happy accident

I really likes the outcome so I wanted to share it with you people right away. Let me know what you think

And now that I did off to grab some beers and enjoy a cool summer night!

This shot was taken while I was returning to my hometown from a small trip. I noticed that the cloud formations where very low just above Thassos island so I found a nice place to park, set up my tripod and grab a few shots.

What I got? An otherwise dull scenery tranformed into a mystical place due to the heavy dramatic sky.

Storms are not for sorting your photos on your pc but to be prepared and grab your gear when the time is right to capure some amazing imagery.

This is not what happend here though. I just got lucky. But you should not leave this to luck. When the storm stikes be prepares and storm out right before or after it passes. Trust me you will not regred it

30 mins later heavy cloud formations were floating in the sky and just minutes before the storm broke I grabbed my camera and pointed the thing towards the sky. The result you can see for yourself.

The distortion from the Tokina 11-16 really made this photo what it is: the clouds look like they are forming a massive tornado and look really “heavy” and evil.

I told ya: I LOVE this lens

This is one of those images that just happen to fall in your field of view out of the blue.

I was wondering around an abandoned village, almost disappointed because I just could not find anything interesting to capture at the moment ( wait… abandoned village and nothing interesting to shoot; You must have the “Give me a break” face right now! ), and then suddenly as I looked to my far right I saw this naked tree aligned with a huge sand dune.

I took the picture and then started to notice as I zoomed in that most of the trees at the background had still their leaves, in contrast with the tree in the foreground, which created a strong emotional contrast.

I choose to remove all color in order to magnify this feeling of shame and loneliness, but left everything else untouched.

Also note that his was taken with my ( rest in peace ) dear 18-135 lens at 135mm, which added compression making the image even more dramatic.

Click on the image to view it in it’s full glory

… looks better with a polarizer.

Keep that in mind next time you go out to play “The Greatest Nature Photographer Ever Lived”.

First time I was at this location I did not take mine with me. Second time EVER at the same location I did not even got my tripod with me! Go on call me stupid you have every right to do so

But third time is the charm they say.

Even when you have to manually hold the polarizer in front of the lens with your naked hands at polar temperatures. Why the heck I did this? Because my lenses are 52mm diameter ( lame I know :-p ) and the plolarizer was from an old 18-135mm with a larger diameter which I cannot recall at the moment.

No I am not that cheap, it’s just that my order with the new polarizer did not arrive on time before the trip.

Really !
